For many of our treks, you can choose
between camping or staying in Mountain
lodges. which are locally-run guest
houses, but standards vary enormously.
In the popular areas, such as Annapurna,
lodges are more like hotels, with hot
water, Western food, and private rooms,
in more remote areas, they are far
simpler and more authentically Nepalese.
Mountain Lodge trekking is less
expensive than camping, and is suitable
for smaller groups. With larger groups,
irrespective of the area, it is more
practical to camp. We provide all the
necessary camping equipment dining and
toilet tents plus our guides, porters
and cooks, you trek in comfort with
Western food of a high standard.
The level of difficulty of our treks is
symbolized by one to five trekkers.
While grading our treks we have taken
the following factors into account:
• The total duration of the trekking.
• The duration of stay at high altitude
(+3000m).
• The maximum difference in altitude per
day.
• The condition of the terrain.
• The average duration of the daily
stages.
• The night temperatures.
Nevertheless we want to warn our
trekkers that the level of difficulty of
a trek is very subjective. Weather
conditions, your physical condition,
possible health problems during the trek
and other factors can have an important
influence on the way you experience a
trek.
Grade A
These trips can be enjoyed by anyone who
leads a reasonably active life. The
walking parts of these trips are
relatively easy and should not exceed 5
to 6 hours a day.

These trips are a mixture of some longer
and shorter walks. During these trips,
hill-walking experience is desirable.
The walking hours are usually no more
than 7 hours a day. Please note that
some of our non-trekking trips are
graded moderate due to altitude and
other conditions that require a higher
level of stamina than our Grade A trips.
Grade C
The day stages on these trips are a
combination of strenuous and moderate
walks - normally 6 to 8 hours a day.
Participants can expect to trek above
4,500 meters on these trips.
Grade D
These trips are known to be the most
strenuous and are regarded as a genuine
test These treks may require a degree of
mountaineering skills and you should be
capable of carrying on normally at an
altitude of 4000-5000 meters. Daily
walking is approximately 7 hours.
